You may require an original death certificate or notarized copy for life insurance policies, bank accounts, stocks, bonds, real estate transactions, pensions, health insurance, retirement plans, Federal / Provincial income taxes, probate courts & Canada Customs & Revenue Agency.
At Hansons Arbor Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums Inc, our funeral directors are also registrars for the Vital Statistics Agency of British Columbia, so original death certificates are issued directly from us. During the arrangement conference with our staff, having the following information about the deceased will be helpful:
If here is to be a viewing of the deceased, a full complement of clothing is required, including undergarments and outer clothes of your choice. Shoes are not needed. For women, an outfit with a closed neckline and long sleeves is desirable. For men, a suit or sport coat is appropriate. Other Personal Items
Jewelry, eye glasses and religious items (if any) should be brought to the arrangement meeting, or prior to the service. On the day of the funeral, it is customary to confirm which items you wish to be left in the casket and which are to be returned to you. Cremation We strongly suggest that any personal items such as Jewelery, pictures and other memorabilia be removed prior to the cremation, as they will be destroyed during the cremation process. Instead, these items may be placed in the selected urn or be returned to you. Arrangement Appointment Time
To ensure availability of one of our funeral directors, and to give you the personal attention and time you need to make the arrangements, please call us to schedule a convenient time. Although most funeral arrangements are conducted during normal business hours, we are also available on Saturdays (By Appointment).
