William 'Bill' Unrau

It is with deep sorrow and much love we mourn the passing of William (Bill) Unrau of Cawston, on Sept 2, 2023, at the age of 90.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years, Beverly; children: Tammy (Gord), Alanna, and Brenda; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sister Hannah (Orest); as well as many relatives and friends.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Linda; granddaughter, Sara; parents, Peter and Anna; siblings Helen, Al and John.

Bill was born in Saskatchewan and moved to surrey where he raised his family. He was an active member of the community including Surrey Little Theatre and many fraternal organizations. He was a freemason for over 50 years becoming Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of BC & Yukon. He was also a Shriner, member of Scottish-Rite, Eastern Star, Associate Bethel Guardian for Job's Daughters, Chapter Dad for DeMolay, and Rainbow Girls.

Bill worked in many interesting professions throughout the years; as a steel fabricator at Dominion Bridge, EBCO Industries and Tristar Industries; Real-Estate agent; handy-man and received his degree from BCIT in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering. He was an avid reader who had a quest for knowledge and enjoyed sharing that with others. Bill was a master craftsman who designed and made many wonderful pieces for his family and friends.
