Don was born on June 27, 1938 in New Westminster. He was the son of Manning and Ethel Mortison, and brother to Roy and Howard Mortison.
Don was raised and educated in New Westminster and spent many memorable years of his life in this City. Although he moved away and settled in Kelowna, B.C., New Westminster was always in his heart.
Don spent 30+ years working with CMHC in several positions. He spoke highly about his experiences with this organization and the many people he met along the way. His career also took him to Kamloops and he enjoyed his time there but returned to Kelowna.
During and after retirement, Don loved boating, fishing and gardening. To his last day, he enjoyed his home and his beautiful yard. Don always appreciated the deep friendships he created during his more than 40 years in Kelowna. His first neighbour in Kelowna remains his friend to this day. Don became the Godfather to this neighbour's children, shared many good times and special family celebrations. Don was peaceful, kind and friendly to all. He enjoyed the companionship of his neighbours and friends. This community will miss him!
Don was deeply loved by many and will be missed by all! He peacefully passed away at his home. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to The Royal Canadian Legion in Memory of Don Mortison.
