Valerie Jean (Clark) Reid

In Loving Memory of Valerie Jean Reid, 77, of Princeton, B.C., passed away Dec. 24, 2019 at Penticton Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born to parents George and Florence (nee Webb) Clark in Smithville, Ont. Val moved with her parents to the Salmon Arm, B.C. area in1948 where she grew up and graduated high school. She married her sweetheart Ron Reid in 1961 and moved to Princeton to work and raise their children. Val is survived by her husband, Ron; her siblings Audrey (Brian) Elliot, Jim (Edna)Clark, Nancy Clark, and predeceased by Gail Clark; her children Lory (Craig) Green, Dan(Carolyn) Reid, Michael Reid, Wayne (Kelci) Reid, Alan Nesbitt, Russ Nesbitt and Doug Nesbitt, and her grandchildren Megan, Alec, Robert, Nathan, Hannah, Daniel, Dustin, Tyler, Alyssa, Sarah and Zachary and her many nieces and nephews. Val enjoyed spending time at Osprey Lake and being a part of the Osprey Area Association, helping organize yearly poker runs and the snow golf tournaments. She was a member of the local Princeton book club and the Princeton bridge club. She enjoyed baking, curling, painting, gardening and spending time with her dog, Suzie. She loved travelling to Mexico and Arizona in the winter, and to Ontario to visit her children and grandchildren.  Christmas was her favourite time of year and she loved making it special for her family. In recent years, she became a member of St. Paul’s United Church, where she volunteered to help run the church and eventually became the worship chairwoman. She was involved in preparations for the church’s upcoming centennial celebrations and also recently attended classes on pastoral care. Her faith and her love of helping people were important parts of her life. Val’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday Jan. 11, 1 p.m., at St. Paul’s United Church in Princeton.
