Rachel de Lisser Obituary

With great sadness in our hearts, we share the news of the passing of Rachel de Lisser.

Rachel de Lisser (nee Briscoe) was born on September 26, 1936 to Harvey and Hazel Briscoe in Smeaton, Saskatchewan.

When Rae was 4 years old, the family relocated to Vancouver where she grew up and later met her husband, Robert. Rachel and Robert were married on February 23, 1956 in Vancouver, BC. Later that year, Rae and Bob started their family with the birth of their son Bob. Brian followed in 1957, and in 1961, they completed their family with the birth of their daughter Terralin.

Robert’s position at the bank gave them the opportunity to call many places within BC their home including Westbank. This gave Rae and Bob the opportunity to make many new friends and acquaintances and reconnect with others they had lost touch with over the years. In 1994, they retired to a home they had previously built in Westbank where they continued to make friends and spend time with family. For several years afterward they spent the winters in Yuma, Arizona.

Rae loved having her grandchildren spend the summers with them on the lake and their grandchildren loved being there. She made sure that her door was always open and always prioritized friends and family. Rae was a stalwart support and had such a genuine love for those around her.

We will always hold her in our hearts and never forget the wonderful woman she was. She taught us the importance of love, family, and friendship.

Rae is survived by her husband Robert, sons Bob (Mary), Brian (Kathy),and daughter Terra as well as many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents Harvey and Hazel Briscoe, her brother Woody, sisters Lavonne and Lorna, and son-in-law David.

At this time, there are no plans for a celebration of life.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
