Ove Damsgaard Andersen, born February 11, 1930, died May 26, 2020. He was born in Resen, Denmark, the middle of seven children. He is survived by; two sisters, Asta Elly Olesen and Ingrid Sorensen and one brother Hans-Jorgen Andersen all residing in Denmark.
He was raised on a small farm where resources were scarce; particularly during the 2nd World War choosing to immigrate to Canada at a very young age. He had a good life in Canada achieving favorable, long-term employment as a foreman at the Cassiar Asbestos Mine in Cassiar B.C. His retirement years were spent and enjoyed in his home in Rutland, B.C. in the Okanagan Valley.
Charity was well known to Ove as he was very generous and giving of his spare time associating with penitentiary service and supporting numerous charitable organizations.
He treasured Canada’s wild nature and fishing and was mechanically gifted; fixing vehicles for his neighbors and himself.
Attending church was a particular weekly highlight and he was considered a steadfast part of his church family. Ove will always dwell in the hearts and minds of all those who were fortunate to know him.
