Noreen Margaret (Towriss) Pringle

Noreen Margaret (Towriss) Pringle passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Princeton General Hospital on August 28th, 2023. Noreen was the eldest child born to Melville and Ellen Towriss in Invermere, BC on May 18, 1929. Noreen spent her childhood in various mining towns throughout BC before moving to Princeton in 1946 when her father Mel, came to run the Capital Theatre upon the death of her grandfather. After graduation she completed a correspondence course which enabled her to open a private Kindergarten, as Kindergarten was not provided in schools at this time. She even had a visit with a former student on her 94th birthday. On July 1st, 1947, Noreen was crowned Princeton Dominion Day Queen. She married James (Ted) Pringle in April 1950 and together they built their home on Sunset Ave where they raised their three daughters. She remained in this home until she moved into Vermilion Court in 2020. In her early years she was involved in the United-Anglican Church where she was a leader in the CGIT (Canadian Girls in Training) program, the choir, and a Sunday School teacher. She came from a curling family and became a very avid curler enjoying the sport and friendships she made over the years. Noreen worked tirelessly with the Canadian Cancer Society’s annual April Campaign for this cause was personal and important to her. Noreen enjoyed a very active social life. Over the years she hosted or attended Grey Cup, New Years and Rotary parties, and enjoyed her dinner and mixed bridge nights or just hosting dinner with friends. In her later years she enjoyed her twice weekly afternoon bridge group until covid of 2020. Noreen was a talented seamstress sewing her own wedding dress and clothes for her children. Her other hobbies included crocheting, knitting, and baking. Her delicious flaky pies were always enjoyed by family and friends. Noreen enjoyed traveling in the earlier years with her family in their trailer, touring BC, Alberta, and Northwest USA. She enjoyed her time in Hawaii, Mexico, Australia, cruising, and her many road trips to Southern USA and around BC. One of her most memorable trips is when she took her family on a cruise to Alaska in 2003. Noreen and Ted purchased property at Allison Lake in 1968. She spent her summers at Allison Lake where she enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She loved watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren having fun in the water and often said “It warms my heart to see them having fun and enjoying the lake”. Noreen was predeceased by her husband Ted in 1993, her daughter Lori in 2022, and sisters Melba and Marceline, and brother Alvin. She is survived by daughters Arden Pringle, Pam (Kim) McKenzie, grandchildren Logan (Brittany), Jana and Ian (Beth) McKenzie and great grandchildren Lauren, Cameron and Ryan McKenzie, Ryatt and Braylee Fillion and her many nieces and nephews.
