Nick & Shirley Merluk Obituary

It is with profound heartache that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our parents:

Nick Merluk  (December 6, 1934 - March 21, 2022) at Penticton General Hospital,

And 13 days later,

Shirley Ann Merluk (September 10, 1936 - April 3, 2022) at Trinity Care Centre.

They are survived by all 3 of their sons: Tim (Hanie), Terry (Kathy), Darcy. Two grandchildren, Tyler and Tamara. And numerous extended family and friends.

Nick’s career occupation as a journeyman ironworker led him to work on major high rise buildings and mill shutdown projects all over B.C. and Alberta. His favourites were the AGT building in Edmonton and the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge in Vancouver. Nick was a very successful musician/guitarist who formed the “Country Ramblers”. As a Veteran, he also endlessly performed at the local legions and retirement communities. He also dedicated a lot of his time to REP hockey (young & old), as well as Old Timers Baseball. He dedicated many hours of community service to the C.O.P. (Citizens on patrol) and various security positions in local areas. He also enjoyed golf and bowling.

Shirley was a devoted wife and stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed sewing, crochet, puzzles, bowling and golf. She also dedicated over 20 years of volunteering work at the Kamloops hospitals and the Penticton hospital. She stood by her man for 61 years. Nick and Shirley were loving, caring and helped where they could to everyone they met. Our parents will be dearly missed, but knowing they are pain free and “STILL TOGETHER “ brings us much peace.

                                                   LOVE YOU MOM & DAD ❤ ❤ ❤

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Trinity Care Centre Penticton, for the loving care that all the staff had given mom these past 7 years.

As per Nick & Shirley’s request.....there will be no service
