Nancy Elizabeth (Watson) Moore

Nancy Elizabeth Watson Moore, 92, of Peachland, BC, passed away April 6th, 2023.

Nancy made her presence known on February 13, 1931, in Montreal, Quebec.  As a child, Nancy helped her parents run a trap line in northern Quebec along with caring for her younger siblings Bill and John. She became a proficient musher of a team of sled dogs at the young age of ten and often spoke fondly of her brilliant lead dog Taboo (part wolf).

As a teenager, Nancy’s parents purchased a farm in Maniwaki, QC. She intuitively understood animals and loved the farm life.  It was here, as young adults that Nancy, Bill, and John welcomed a bonus baby sister, Janet. This was also where Nancy met her one true love and soon-to-be husband, Leonard David Moore.

Together, Nancy and Leonard Moore had a daughter (Donna May) in 1960, followed by a son (Adam David) in 1965. The family relocated to Montreal, QC in 1966 and then to Toronto, ON in 1979.

In 1994, Nancy retired to Peachland, BC to be closer to her brother Bill and sister-in-law Audrey Watson. Her children soon followed her to the Okanagan from Nova Scotia and Ontario. She took an active role in the lives of her three grandchildren. Attending James’ numerous theatre plays and productions. Teaching David rock wall building while sharing her love of gardening. Baking with Lucy and then lamenting that Lucy’s baked cookies were better than her own!!

Nancy had a natural green thumb and a love for cats. Consequently, her home resembled a rain forest patrolled by half-a-dozen felines. Her retirement hobbies included quilting, gardening, reading, baking, knitting, and time spent with family and friends.

Nancy is predeceased by her Mother (Dora May Miller), Father (Alexander Spencer Watson), Husband (Leonard David Moore), and Brother (Alexander “Bill” William Watson).

Nancy is survived by her Children: Donna (Phil) Long of Kelowna, BC; and Adam Moore of Peachland, BC. Grandchildren: James (Raeleen) Long of Lake Country, BC; David (Jen) Long of Westbank, BC; and Lucy Long, Kelowna, BC. Great Grandson: Lowen Long. Siblings: John (Sophia) Watson of St. Colomban, PQ, Janet Gagnon (Andy) of Maniwaki, PQ as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws and dear friends.

An interment service will take place on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna, BC.
