His parents and older brother Morris immigrated to Canada from Ukraine, via Poland.  Michael was the first in his family born in Canada.

His childhood was on a farm near Cowan, MB, 450 km northwest of Winnipeg.

As a young teenager he moved with family to Rainy River Ontario, where his family bought & operated the Rainy River Hotel.

As an older teen he ventured out on his own to Toronto, where he met his wife, Edith. They married on Nov. 24, 1951, at ages 21 & 18. Bought their first & only house in 1955, where they raised their 4 children & helped raise their daughters 4 children.

In Nov. 2020, Michael & Edith moved to West Kelowna BC at ages 90 & 87, where son Alan & spouse Susan could provide the support they needed.

He worked his entire career until age 64 for Canadian Pittsburg Industries (CPI) & PPG Industries, as Sales Manager and Plant Manager at a glass distribution plant on Caledonia Road in Toronto.  And served as a director on other glass companies’ boards.

He loved travel, family vacations, road trips, attending sporting events, live theatre, dining out, golf, fishing & hunting.

To facilitate those passions, he had season tickets to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Honest Ed Mirvish Theatres.  Plus, memberships at Maple Leaf Gardens Hot Stove Lounge and the Toronto Board of Trade Golf & Country Club.  He also bought a condo in Freeport Bahamas, where family could vacation.
