Lydia Perrin Obituary

In loving memory of our mother, Lydia Perrin who passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023, aged 93.

She was predeceased by Ralph, her husband of 52 years; sister Leona (Bob) Rieck; brothers Gordon (Gertrud) and Arnold (Lully) Pubantz; and brother-in-law Jack (Maggie) Perrin. She is survived by daughters Joan (Robin) Dodge, Sheila (John) Paynter, and son Brian (Rose) Perrin.  She also leaves to mourn 3 grandchildren, Roger (Christie), Jennifer (Scott) and Heather (Jason), 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Lydia was born July 23, 1930 in Patience, Alberta, the fourth and youngest child of Edward and Leokadia Pubantz.  She had a short childhood, taking over the household at age 15, upon the death of her mother. By age 19, she met and married Ralph, the love of her life, and they farmed and raised their family 3 miles from where she grew up.

Once their family left home, Ralph and Lydia moved to Wetaskiwin, Alberta, where they made many wonderful friends and great memories.  Ralph died in 2002, and Lydia, always a strong woman, carried on visiting family and enjoying an active social life.

In 2017, while visiting her daughters, she abruptly decided to move to Westbank, BC, and within a month relocated to the Heritage Retirement Centre.  The last six years of her life were filled with family, and wonderful new friends.

Lydia did not want a memorial service.  She will be interred in Wetaskiwin, next to her beloved Ralph.  There will be a short graveside service for family, date to be determined.

Should anyone want to make a donation in her memory, her charity of choice was Parkinson Canada.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
