Lorna May Beynon

Lorna May Beynon (Diebel) passed away peacefully on the 29th of April, 2024 at the age of 91 years. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Laurel Dierdorf, Myrna Boettcher, Len Lenhardt and Deanna Lenhardt, together with her 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Lorna was born in Unity, Saskatchewan on December 30th, 1932, the oldest of 6 children born to Harold and Albina Diebel. She is survived by 2 of those siblings, Elsie Duncan (Diebel) of Vilna, AB and Lloyd Diebel of Unity, SK. She obtained a teacher’s certificate in Calgary, AB and spent many years teaching school.

She was predeceased by her 1st husband, Harry Boettcher, in 1966. In 1989 she was married for the last time to Demetro (Mate) Beynon and settled on their small property in Cawston, BC where they spent many years growing the best peaches, pears, apples and cherries her family and friends could eat. Eventually selling and moving into Keremeos, her beloved Mate Beynon passed away in 2017.

Lorna played piano by ear and did so right until she was 91, despite having poor eyesight, hearing and memory. She studied her Bible faithfully and held her convictions very close to her heart. Her children have all been left one of her oil paintings, which she never seemed to have enough time to do more of.

Lorna and Mate will be interred in the Cawston Community Cemetery when arrangements can be completed.
