Larry passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, May 2, 2023. He joined our beloved Chelsi McGrath in the clouds.
Larry leaves behind his wife, Vicky, of 50 years, daughter Mallory, sister Debbie, son-in-law Richard, granddaughter Avery, many “adopted” daughters and so many other people that loved him. Larry was predeceased by his parents Julian (Hud), Joyce, and his beautiful daughter Chelsi.
Larry was born in 1956 in Clinton, Ontario to Hud and Joyce. Larry’s father was in the Air Force, as such Larry spent his childhood living in various places around the world, including Germany, France, Utah and the Maritimes. In 1976, he married his wife, Vicky, and moved out west to start a new life. Larry didn’t waste much time in finding a profession that he loved. He logged Pitt Lake for many years and earned himself the nickname “Gator”. In 1984, Vicky and Larry welcomed Chelsi. Shortly after, in 1987, they welcomed a second daughter, Mallory. Larry was the best dad and truly emulated joy in the presence of his children. In 2015, his greatest joy entered the world. His granddaughter, Avery Joyce. There was nothing he loved more than being a Papa.
It would be impossible to describe Larry in just a few words. If you were lucky enough to know him, you know his incredible smile and laugh that lit up any room he walked into, his big bear hugs that could solve the problems of the world, an ear that was always keen to listen, and his unique view on life. He created a life that he truly loved and lived by his rules right up until the moment he left. He left a mark on so many hearts and he will be missed by so many.
You lived your life with an open heart,
And the people around you don’t know where to start,
This void will be impossible to fill,
All we can do is remember the way you chose to live your life,
With acceptance and love,
And always remember to say, “Have a sunny day”
A celebration of life for both Larry and his daughter Chelsi will be held on July 22, 2023, at Gwynn Vaughan Park. The family will spread Larry’s and Chelsi’s ashes in a private gathering at Pitt Lake where they can rest together in eternal peace.
