With great sadness, we share the passing of Kenneth Preston Roper, born on April 26th, 1927, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
After moving to Vancouver, Ken met and married the love of his life, his wife of 67 years, Eva Ernestine Ann Roper. Ken worked as a master parts manager at BOW MAC in Vancouver for 35 years. He and Ernie resided on Brookmere Street in Burquitlam for 25 years, raising their two adopted children, Raymond and Vicki, until moving to Kelowna in 1986. Ken worked at Don Folk in Kelowna, as they settled into their new home in Sunrise Village, where they happily lived for 28 years.
Ken and Ernie enjoyed many activities together: traveling abroad, bowling, camping, and golfing. Ken spent his retired years woodworking, walking, volunteering for the Red Cross, and spending time with family and dear friends. At both 90 years old, Ken & Ernestine together moved into Brookhaven in West Kelowna in Oct of 2017. Ken enjoyed family visits while at Brookhaven, interacting with the kind staff, and outings with his daughter. Sadly, Ken passed away on September 24th, 2018, with his wife, daughter, and granddaughters by his side.
He was predeceased by his parents, William Henry Roper and Margaret Roper (nee Preston); brothers, Dale, Jack, and Roy; sisters, Betty (Davidson), Dorothy (Cowan), Geraldine (Tullis), and Margie (Waite). Ken’s sister, Inez (McKenzie), passed away one month after him.
Upon his passing, Ken left behind his wife, Ernestine Ann Roper; son, Ray (Maria); daughter, Vicki; grandchildren, Ashleigh (Rob), Paige, Chase; Brandy (Jim), Danielle (Travis); great-grandchildren, Cheyene, Sierra, Sophia, Griffith, and Macey; and great-great-grandson Phoenix.
