Jason Ratzlaff Obituary

Jason Christopher Ratzlaff passed away after a lengthy illness on September 30, 2023, in Kelowna, BC at the age of 45 years.

He will be remembered and sadly missed by his stepmother of 25 years, Debbie Ratzlaff, and stepsisters Tara Cookson and Shauna Cookson. He was sadly predeceased by his mother, Christa; father, Gordon; and sister, Jennifer.

In his youth, Jason was an excellent athlete. In high school, he played hockey competitively, and just loved anything to do with sports.

At the age of 19, Jason was diagnosed with the life changing illness of schizophrenia, which greatly affected his and his family’s lives for his remaining years. Even though they faced many illnesses and challenges over that time, Jason remained an important and loved member of the family.

The family will have a private celebration for Jason in the coming months, and he will be laid to rest alongside his father, Gordon.
