Ivan Low Obituary

Ivan Birrell Low passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 6, 2025.

Ivan will be sadly missed and remembered by his wife, Linda; son, Blair (Teressa); daughter, Meghan; and grandchildren, Jessy, Katelyn and Tristyan; brothers-in-law, Tom Riley, Dale Bulley (Tracy) and sisters-in-law, Lorraine Hunter, Sandra Smit, Nidia Low; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ivan was predeceased by his father, William; mother, Amy; sister, Linda; brother, Paul; and brother-in-law, Patrick.

Ivan immigrated to Canada as a teenager, dearly missing his beloved Scotland yet embracing his new country. His lifelong love of music and sports was evident to all; including grandchildren who are now avid Vancouver Canucks fans; he didn’t miss any overseas soccer matches, mainly cheering on his Glasgow Rangers. Ivan had a wicked sense of humour and was also known for requesting donuts of any kind.

Above all, Ivan’s greatest love was for his family. He spoke of them often and with immense pride.

Ivan spent his career in various Safety capacities as a Safety Supervisor, Safety Instructor and most notably a Mine Rescue Coach. He was passionate in his career of Safety in Industry and spent the majority of his working years to improve upon both. He was a very active member of the NSW Mine Rescue Association.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Ella Monro, Cascade Medical, Princeton General Hospital and Ridgewood Lodge for their years of care.

In lieu of flowers it was Ivan’s wish that any memorial contributions be made to the “Princeton and District Highway Extraction Society” via Valley First Credit Union in Princeton.

A Celebration of Life will be held with the location, date and time to be announced.
