Hal passed away peacefully at home in Princeton BC on January 12, 2022, at the age of 84. He is survived by his loving wife Cecile, his daughters Nadine (Jack) and Lianne (Clifford); Cecile’s children Craig (Sandra), Jennifer (Chris), Douglas (Lianne), Murray (Susan); 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Predeceased by siblings Hope, Joy, Harry and Jean, Hal is survived by Cecile’s siblings Leopaul, Yvonne, Arthur, Lorraine, Rachelle, Monique, their spouses, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

 

Hal was born September 12, 1937, in Watson, Saskatchewan; the youngest of Ivor and Bessie’s 5 children. The family moved to Vancouver, BC when Hal was 6 years old. Hal grew up on Powell Street with a passion for the water and in March 2001 after 44 years of service, retired as a tugboat Captain from Seaspan International Ltd.

 

In 2003, Hal received a letter of commendation for Bravery and Valor for brave and unselfish actions which saved the lives of the occupants of the plane as well saved the property and homes of the neighbours when a Cessna single engine plane crash landed on a home in the Deerview area in Princeton on August 10, 2003.

 

A celebration of life will be decided upon at a later date.
