Gerald "Jerry" McKay Obituary

Gerald (Jerry) Ross Mckay passed away on June24, 2024

Jerry was born on May 14, 1946 to Elton and Irene McKay in Oliver BC and moved to Princeton with his family when he was 6.

Jerry was predeceased by his son Jeffery, daughter Tammy, and grandson Dustin. He is survived by his wife Merilee Walden, daughter Shannon, a brother David, nieces and nephews and grandchildren.

As a young man he first took up diamond drilling and then moved over to logging. Over the years he worked for TRI-Valley logging, Pat Parsons, Doug Currie and Stan Thompson.

Jerry and Merilee started going to sunny Arizona in the winter of 2000. They took the horses and Jerry enjoyed the team roping and trail riding. Many friends were made over the years spent in Wickenburg .

In the summers in Princeton, Jerry and his friends Stan Smith and Glen the mule man made camping trips to the mountains as well trail riding on the weekends. They were known as ‘The Three Amigos’. Jerry also took his trusted Gibson Guitar.  At home he kept busy in his leather shop making all sorts of horse gear.

We would like to thank Dr. Ella Monro for taking such good care of Jerry. Also, a big thank you to the kind staff at Ridgewood Lodge for the wonderful care he received.
