Florence Roberta (Dobbin) Edwards

Florence Roberta Edwards (nee Dobbin) passed away peacefully at the age of 102 years, on January 2, 2024, in her home in the Village at Smith Creek.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Donna (Tim); grandsons, Lee and Curtis (Jane); great grandchildren, Ciara, Hendrik, Violet, and Rosemary. Florence also leaves behind her two sisters, Mary and Pamela. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Florence Mae Dobbin; her brothers, Frankie, Clifford, and Lorne; and sisters, Olive and Doreen.

Florence was a longtime resident of Westbank. In 1943, at the age of 22 years, she signed up to serve in the Canadian Army, where she spent the next 3 years in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps. During her time, she would achieve the rank of Corporal in the Intelligence Division. After the war, she returned to Westbank, married, and had one daughter.

Florence loved playing the piano and singing in the United Church Choir, had a wonderful sense of humor, with the cutest little giggle, also being the most contented person you could ever meet, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed.
