Ernest Gene Cormier
1941 – 2020
It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernest Gene Cormier April 15, 2020 in Kelowna, BC at the age of 78. Gene was raised in Penticton, BC and was educated at UBC and Western Washington State University. Gene and Margo Nyman were married in 1962.
Gene was a high school teacher, counsellor and basketball coach for over 45 years in the Vancouver school system. He was an avid athlete, he played high school basketball, men’s team basketball, tennis and was a cyclist. He was a river boat builder, world traveller and an outdoors man. He was a storyteller with an amazing ability to remember names, dates and events in detail. Gene loved watching hockey, basketball and football. He enjoyed foreign films with Margo and going to the movies with good friends.
Gene was predeceased by his parents Ernie and Evelyn Cormier. He will be missed by his wife Margo, daughter Laurie Cormier Chisholm, son Kyle Cormier and his daughter Jacqueline Cormier.
A Celebration of Life will take place later in the summer.
