Dennis Falkenberg Obituary

The world has lost a good man. Dennis (Denny) Evan Falkenberg left peacefully, with his family by his side, on April 23rd, 2020. Denny was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1945. From a young age he enjoyed helping his dad with projects both around the house and in the garage. Denny spent his early life out at Itaska Beach at Pigeon Lake where the family built a summer home. He enjoyed lake life and all that it entailed.

Denny could build or fix anything and often had the extra parts in the garage. He had a love for cars which led him to a forty-five year career as an automotive mechanic. It also led him to the love of his life, Ann. Their shared love of lake life brought them to the Okanagan, when they moved to Westbank, shortly after getting married. Denny enjoyed being on the water and going dancing every weekend. He loved music and was a great dancer. If Ann was too tired to dance he would ask someone else, including Ann's mum, Anneliese, who loved him like a son. Life was simple and good.

Denny had a kind heart and a great sense of humour. He loved to tell jokes and was often the first person to laugh. He enjoyed helping others fix things, especially his children, Guy, Eric, and Lisa. Some of their most memorable hours spent together were in the garage. He loved being a father and took interest and pride in everything his children did. He also loved being a grandpa and playing with his grandsons, Theo and Thomas.

Denny is predeceased by his father Vic (Fern) and mother Gwen. He is survived by his wife, Ann, of forty-seven years, their children Guy, Eric, and Lisa (Dane), and grandchildren Theo and Thomas Denny. He is also survived by his sisters Diane and Lois (Brian), nieces and nephew, and numerous cousins. Denny was loved by all, including his cousins through marriage residing in England, Ireland, and Germany.

The family would like to thank the team of caring professionals at Interior Health for their excellent care and for getting Denny home, where he wanted to be.

A celebration of life to take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Denny's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
