David Myles

Dave Myles, born September 23, 1945, died peacefully in his home on April 23, 2023, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. Dave is survived by his loving wife Beverley, sons Kevin and Ryan, with their wives Susan and Jacqueline, daughter Miranda, grandchildren Erik, Carlee, Nathan and Connor, and great grandchildren Lexi, Ava, and Wesley.

The only son of Doris Myles, Dave grew up with 7 sisters in a single parent household. Though there was never much money, he grew up in a household full of love. Dave didn’t finish high school choosing instead to go to work at a young age and landing a job as manager of an A&W in Burnaby. Here he would meet Jackie Hey and the two would wed in December 1964. Their first son Kevin would come along not long after and Dave knew he needed a career in order to support his growing family. He would eventually end up working on tugboats at Hodder Towing where he would further his education and become captain of his own tug. Dave and Jackie would welcome another son Ryan and closely after their daughter Miranda.

The family put down roots in Langley BC buying their first house in 1973 and spending their formative years in a home full of many good memories with family and friends. Dave would continue to strive for more professionally challenging the Marine Pilots program in the mid 80’s. He successfully attained the position of Marine Coast Pilot in 1987, a very proud moment in his life. Dave and Jackie moved into a new home in 1991 after their kids had moved out. They took to their new abode in Cloverdale BC and happily enjoyed the arrival of their grandchildren. They remained at this residence until retirement in 2007.

Dave and Jackie loved to travel and took many opportunities to do so when they could. After retiring they began to winter in the Southern US and eventually bought a winter home at Rio Bend in El Centro California. With a golf course on the premises Dave was able to indulge his favourite past time almost everyday. His golf career boasted 3 holes in one… another very proud achievement!

After Jackie passed away in 2019 Dave met Beverley Zelinski and they really hit it off. Dave spent his last years very happily in her company. They wed in 2022 and moved in together in Bev’s home in West Kelowna. Dave couldn’t have been more content having found someone he loved so much and felt so comfortable with.

During his courageous battle with cancer and under Bev’s exceptional care, Dave was an inspiration to his family. While admitting he wished he had more time he was often heard saying he couldn’t complain as he was content and so very grateful for the life he’d had.

There will be a celebration of Dave’s life Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Kaleden BC at 12:00 p.m.
