The family of Carolyn Bruneau of Princeton, BC is saddened to announce her passing. Carolyn passed away peacefully at Princeton General Hospital on February 6, 2026, at the age of 80 years.
She will be remembered and sadly missed by her children, Lori (Arnie) Powell, and Joe; grandchildren, Desi, Joe (Anna), Justin (Colby), and Hawk; great-grandchildren, Mallory and Malcom; and sister, Freda Lapointe.
Carolyn is sadly predeceased by husband, Guy Bruneau; parents, Clayton and Vi McChesney; sisters, Helen and Betty; and brother, Bill.
Carolyn was born in Timmins, Ontario, on October 27, 1945. At a young age, she moved with her family to Yellowknife, NWT. Carolyn attended grades 1–12 in Yellowknife, and it was in her senior high school days that she met her future husband, Guy Bruneau. Carolyn and Guy moved to Hay River, NWT, where they were married and daughter Lori was born. This move was the first of several that she would make. The next move was to Edmonton, AB, where son Joe was born.
Whitehorse, YT, called (well actually Guy), and Carolyn was on a bus to Whitehorse with two young children in tow. After a few years in Whitehorse, the next move was to Faro, YT. Carolyn and Guy were both employed at the Anvil Mine in Faro. On the move again, this time to Princeton, BC, where Guy worked as a heavy-duty mechanic at the mill and Carolyn worked for a local lawyer and then as an office administrator for a local real estate firm.
Princeton would turn out to be the end of their journey. They had found home!
Carolyn loved her family and was overjoyed when the grandchildren arrived. First Dezi and then Joe, Justin and, last but not least, Hawk. She became Nana and cared for Dezi, Joe, Justin and Hawk in their preschool days. Carolyn was thrilled to become a great-grandmother (G.G.) to Mallory and Malcolm. Her home was adorned with many, many family photos and pictures of wolves (another of Carolyn’s passions).
She will be sadly missed and always remembered in our hearts. Carolyn will also be missed by Hawk’s mom, Deanne and close niece, Lyn. We know she’s dancing (most likely the jive) with Dad.
