Barry Leslie DeArmond

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Barry Leslie DeArmond, of Peachland, BC on June 4, 2023.

He will be deeply missed by his long-time partner, Alana Brown; his children, Paula DeArmond, Wes DeArmond (Jennifer Beckett); his two grandsons, Greg Paquette (Jaime Hughes) and Trent Boyce (Anistyn); blended family, Jamie Brown (Jay Scanlon), Cole and Parker, David Brown (Krishna), Tanner and friends and other family. His pets, Sadie and Furn. Pet friends Kacie, Mac, Carl, Lucy and those that crossed the rainbow bridge before.

Predeceased by his high school sweetheart and wife Verna in 1984. His parents Robert and Mildred DeArmond in the following years. 

Barry was born June 30, 1946, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Moving to BC at a young age and spending the rest of his years there. 

Barry was a heavy-duty mechanic by trade. The list of entrepreneurial skills over the years was nothing short of impressive. Construction of a log house for a family home, made of material provided by the property. Avid stock car racer. Restoring vintage and classic cars. Big Game Guide outfitter in northern BC. Ultralight aircraft pilot. Seasoned farmer, Polled Hereford cattle, Christmas tree farm, cherry orchards. New and used gun and antique store. Many days, weeks, months hunting and fishing. Park host in the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Sanctuary. Especially fishing on his Marguerite Vessel west of Bella Coola. Travelling over the Chilcotin Plateau.

He was his own legend and very much ours.

Life was not without adversity. Widowed in 1984 with 2 young children he never gave up. In 1997 he suffered a life altering motorcycle accident. Beyond the odds of losing his life, his leg, he recovered with the reconstruction of his leg. In 2015 Barry was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. His will and determination always persevered over the years.

He will be in our hearts and souls forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 9, 2023, in Peachland, BC. For more service details, please contact the family directly.
