It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Barrie Emil Fletcher on Sept 14, 2022, one week shy of his 95th birthday.
He was the eldest of four siblings, born to George and Audrey Fletcher, Sept 21, 1927, in Trail B.C. Canada.
He joined the Navy in 1944 and served until 1952, where he also enjoyed playing the trombone in the Naval Band while enlisted. Some of the many ships he was on were the H.M.C.S Magnificent and the H.M.C.S Niobe Ship, which took him to many different parts of the globe. After the war, he resided in Trail until moving to, what was once, the very small town of Peachland B.C. in 1967, where he built his parents house and his own family’s home, the 2 houses being only 2 of the 6 homes on San Clemente Ave. at that time. He worked his way up the ladder at Brenda Mines during his time there, retiring in 1984. Over the years he made many good friends with his easygoing nature and his wonderful sense of humour, which was there right up until his passing. His peaceful and serene nature were obvious, as he would go to sleep at night, with a smile on his face, and wake in the mornings with the same beautiful smile. His last years were spent in a care home, and he will be greatly missed by the staff and residents there.
He was an avid fisherman and spent as much time as he could fishing mostly at Peachland Lake and hunting for mushrooms, Shaggy Manes being his favorite.
He is lovingly survived by his sister, Connie and her husband, Ed and many nieces and nephews. Lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his daughter, Roxanne, her partner, Lee and grandson, Bradley. Survived by his son Don and family.
There will be no service, but please enjoy a bucket of KFC and a cold Molson Canadian, (as these were his favourites), in memory of this warm, caring, unique and loving man
