Alain Peron-Magnan Obituary

The family of Alain Peron-Magnan of Keremeos, BC is saddened to announce his passing at the age of 60 years. Alain passed away with his family by his side on December 15, 2021 in Penticton.

Alain will be remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Donna Bartlett; sons, Yan Peron and Marc Peron; siblings, Thierry (Florence), Sandrine, Dimitri (Corinne) and Christine (Thierry) all of France, sister-in-law, Julie Bartlett (Nelson Louie) of Vancouver; nieces and nephews, Adrienne, Celine, Pierre, Antoine, Chloe, Lohan, Romeo and Alexi.

He is predeceased by his parents, Jean-Noel and Sylviane.

Alain was first and foremost a family man who loved his wife and two sons. He worked very hard to support them. He was proud to have become a successful organic orchardist after a lifetime of being a farm worker, first for his family orchard in France and then for a series of orchards and nurseries in several countries in Europe, North America, and New Zealand.  He also travelled extensively, always with a focus of learning the latest in farming, to many other parts of the world, enjoying friendship with people of many cultures.

Finally settling in BC in 1998 and getting his landed immigrant status, Alain started farming a leased orchard in Lake Country. He married Donna in 2000, bought the Old Tower Farm orchard in Keremeos in 2001. The two boys were born over the next couple of years. He always stayed closely connected with his family in France, travelling back there whenever he could and making sure the kids would know and feel at home with their extended family there.

Alain had success on his small farm. He was a perfectionist and an innovator of new techniques and equipment. He had a long-term dream of developing electric farm machinery. Alain always appreciated all the help and advice from the growers he worked for, especially in BC, and from the orchard community in Keremeos/Cawston, his adopted home, where he was very happy and will be greatly missed.

A Graveside Service will be held at the Keremeos Cemetery on Wednesday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of other tributes, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice.
