Roger Wolfgang Reisen
1941 – 2018
It’s with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of Roger Wolfgang Reisen at his home in Peachland on September 11, 2018. Roger was born in June of 1941 in Cologne, Germany to Albert and Ilse Reisen.
Roger married Pia in Copenhagen in January of 1967. They moved to Canada in 1967 on their honeymoon, settling in Vancouver. Later they made their home in North Vancouver. Roger worked as an instructor at BCIT, teaching Fish, Wildlife and Recreation Management. After retirement in 1994, Roger and Pia moved to Peachland.
Roger was a member of the Catholic Church. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He loved to travel and explore. He had a passion for building, be it a house, garage or a toy for his grandchildren. He took great delight in tinkering in his garage and working on his beloved property. Roger’s biggest love were his family and friends, he always put others before himself. He would drop whatever he was doing to assist anyone who required his touch, knowledge or generosity.
Roger will be missed by his wife of 51 years, Pia, his twin sister Birgid (Stiewe) and family, his cousin Michael Reisen and family, his sons; Menno (Maz), Erich (Stacey) and Rob (Julie), his grandchildren; Phatima, Maryam, Ali, Jaden, Lexie, Jacob, Mattihas, Lukas and Portia, his great-grandchildren; Ayah and Elaf, as well as his extended family and many friends.
A celebration of Roger’s life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Roger’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation www.heartandstroke.ca.
