It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma on August 10th. Known as Mabel to all who knew her and as Grandma Marble by her great grandbabies. She loved that.
Mabel and Tony moved to Kelowna in 1991 from Port Alberni as they wanted to be closer to family. Mabel will be missed by her daughter Carolyn Schatz (Bruce Vermee), Grandson Brett Schatz (Brittani); great grand babies Ali, Riley, Nathan and Connor and Granddaughter Kaelynn Hawkins (Colin). She is also survived by her son Alan Maten (Rhonna) grandson Riley and granddaughter Nicole. Mabel is also survived by her sister Edith Ohnasey and her six children and extended family from her husband Tony's side. She will also be missed by her son-in-law Larry Schatz (Rhonda). Mabel always appreciated their assistance in helping her after Tony died. Mabel was predeceased by her husband Tony in 2014. He was the love of her life for more than fifty years. She was also predeceased by her grandson Derek Schatz in 2012 (Christina) and will be forever missed by her great granddaughter Annelee Schatz and Christina's son Ethan. Sadly Mabel also was predeceased by her great grandson Carson.
Rest In Peace Grandma Marble. You will be missed every day.
We extend a heartfelt thanks to the first responders who came to our aid. Your efforts were very much appreciated. You are amazing people and we thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts.
A small celebration of life will be held at Holiday Park Resort at their residence green space on Sunday September 1, 2019 from 1 pm until 3 pm.
