Patricia Kathleen (Kudelka) Fowler

It is with great sadness that the family of Patricia Fowler announce her passing from complications of asthma at the Kelowna Hospital on January 7, 2020 at the age of 87. Pat was predeceased by her parents, William and Edith Kudelka, her husband, Gordon Fowler and niece Ann Lawton.

Pat was born in Drumheller, AB on Jan 2,1933 to William and Edith Kudelka of Rumsey, AB.  She grew up on her family’s farm and went to school in Rumsey. Due to developing asthma at such an early age, Pat was only able to attend school part-time. She finished her education by correspondence and then went to work at the bank in Big Valley.

Pat married Gordon Fowler on February 9, 1953.  After living in Big Valley for a few years, Pat’s doctor advised them to move to a drier climate for health reasons. They moved to Peachland B.C. where they lived with Jack and Ruby Wilson, Pat’s aunt and uncle, they built their own house and developed a fruit orchard which supplied themselves, family and friends with the best fruit and nuts. Gordon worked as a carpenter and Pat worked at the Okanagan Regional library from 1979 to 1997, assisted at times by Gordon after he retired.  Gordon passed away suddenly in 1999 at the age of 75.

Pat managed her home by herself and later took a few trips to Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii and a few cruises with her good friend Gordon Harris.  Poor health forced her to sell her home and move into the Village at Smith Creek in West Kelowna where she was treated very well by the staff and where she entertained residents with her ability to play the piano from memory.

Pat is survived by her sister Joy Denzler (Kudelka) of Drumheller, AB, cousin Noel Wilson of Vancouver B.C., nephew Gordon Denzler (Shirley) of Delia, AB, great niece Heidi McMann (Jon) and family of Calgary AB, and great nephew Darren Denzler (Krystal) and family of Fort St. John, B.C.

A memorial service will be held in the spring. Details will be released by the family at a later date.
