Iona (Jackie) May (Jackson) Pierson

With broken hearts, the family announce the passing of Iona (Jackie) Pierson, on November 3, 2018 in West Kelowna, at the age of 85. After a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family, Jackie’s active fight with cancer ended. Jackie was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, to John and Ione Jackson.

Jackie was an indomitable spirit; a courageous, intuitive and intelligent woman who leaves us richer and better for our life with her. She was a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, cherished friend and our matriarch. A huge personality with the capacity to hold everyone in her life, connecting us all as the hub of a wheel that is our family. Her friendships were lifelong and many, and Jackie never turned a soul in need of help away. Her door was always open, welcoming, offering solace, hope or just a warm meal and place to lay a head.

She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years (Norman), she is survived by her 3 daughters; Nancy Hammer (Kirk), Lori Pierson, Gail Fritsen and her son, Steven Pierson, her cherished grandchildren Jessica, Ben, Kyla, Drake, Tahnee, Nikole, Brendin and great grandchildren Liliana, Natalia, Sophia and Kasey as well as many extended family and friends.

She was the youngest of six children and the last of her Jackson clan. She held close relationships with their children, her nieces and nephews and their extended families. She will be missed beyond measure by all those who she loved, held close and helped during her long, well lived life.

 A Celebration of Life is planned for January 19, 2019, details to follow.
