Emanuel (Emil) Keen
Aug 18, 1926 – Jan 3, 2019
Emanuel (Emil) Keen, dad, father-in-law, grandpa, husband, brother, uncle and friend, was deeply loved and admired by those who knew him.
Born August 18, 1926, he grew up on a farm in Alberta and later moved to B.C, where he remained for the rest of his long life.Emil proudly served with the RCMP for 25 years. He joined the Force on March 15, 1949, and retired as a Sergeant in Vancouver on September 27, 1974. He went on to become a realtor in Vancouver, until he retired for a second time.
Never one to sit idle, he then found a stunning property in the Okanagan, taught himself to be an orchardist and created a spectacular organic apple orchard in Keremeos, B.C. In spite of failing health due to cancer, he continued to care for his orchard, of which he was very proud.
Emil’s success in the orchard, as in many other things, was based on a profound belief that he could achieve whatever he put his hands, heart and mind to. He is survived by his children, Susan (Tom), Sandra (Tim) and John (Donna), wife Lillian. and grandchildren Madison, Jordan, Jake and Hannah.
