It is with profound and heartbreaking sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Irene Canning (Parent), after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Flin Flon Manitoba to parents Vera and Laury Parent, she was the 7th of 10 children. The family spent time in Cranberry Portage before settling in the Okanagan. Doreen was a longtime resident of Grande Prairie Alberta, where she raised her family and made many life long friends.
Everyone loved Doreen, as she gave everyone a little piece of her heart. She was a woman of many hats (and hair and nails), and had a love of life and lived it to the fullest. Her greatest joy, other than golf, came from her family. She was a champion for her five daughters and always leant an ear and accepted everyone without judgement. She was the first to find the silver lining in any situation.
She is survived by and will be forever missed by her daughters: Carey (Todd) Forster, Laura (Andrew) Hick, Tammy Kehler, Carol (Devin) Kimble, Yvette (Chris) Regnier. Grandchildren: Kyle (Meika) Forster (Ryker), Brittney (Jordan) McQuaig (Wyatt & Rylee), Morgan Mayne, Evan and Mason Hick, Tristen and McKenzie Kehler, Colby and Sawyer Kimble, Lincoln Iroume. Her siblings Laury (Carmen) Parent, Fred (Lee) Parent, Ted (Wendy) Parent, Ron (Glenda) Parent, Rose (Peter) Chudobiak, Yvonne Carlstrom, Neil (Mary) Parent, Norm (Carola) Parent, Doris Jaggard and all their extended families.
She is predeceased by her parents Vera and Laury Parent, Kara Parent (niece), Cole Parent (nephew)
