Barry Michael Blake

Barry Michael Blake “The Phantom” born April 17, 1947, passed away at his daughters’ home in Peachland on October 9, 2019 surrounded by loving family. Preceded by his father Michael in 2015, Barry leaves behind many loved ones including his beautiful mother Nancy whom he adored, 3 children he was SO very proud of; Joseph (Dana), Amy (Michael), Justin (Charlotte), 4 siblings; Ron(Joan), Bev (Randy), Ros (Steve) & Gloria (Ken), 9 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren. He had cousins by the dozens & countless nieces & nephews who adored him. Related by blood or not, Barry welcomed everyone into our family equally & treated them with kindness & love.

Even suffering with cancer at the end of his life, Barry always concerned himself with how he could help others. His free spirit and kind & quiet nature always strove for a deeper understanding of life & love. He took notice of people who needed to learn more about love & kindness and made more time for them. His type of work as a Millwright, along with his carefree lifestyle allowed for him to travel all over this beautiful province and beyond. This enabled him to make friends everywhere he went as well as spend time with his family who didn’t live close to the mainland.

He was a very well-respected member of the Millwrights Union Local 2736 & took great pride in his work. Unbeknownst to all but one family member (his oldest son Joe, who found out on a job site) he was referred to as “The Phantom” to his workmates. Ironically enough, it was a nickname that everyone who ever knew him could have used for him. It suited him more than the members in his trade would probably ever know.

Rest In Peace Phantom...knowing that you did right by your family. Even though you never became the patriarch of our entire family...you were in my eyes #daddysgirlforever

Please join us in celebrating the life of "The Phantom" Barry Blake on November 9th at 1pm at the Sapperton Pensioners Hall at 318 Keary Street New Westminster, B.C.
