Alastair (Al) Fowler of Kelowna, BC, passed away on Monday May 20, 2019 at the age of 96.
Alastair was born and raised, along with his six siblings, on the family farm near Salvador, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force to serve his country in the Second World War then returned to Saskatchewan to farm and run a general store. Alastair met and was married to his wife Jean for 65 loving years. Together, with their family, they later moved to Edmonton where they resided until 2011.
Alastair was a quiet and devout gentleman with a ready smile. He was kind and generous and readily opened his home and heart to all he met. Throughout his life Al loved to garden, growing amazing flowers and vegetables. He also enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels he enticed to visit with peanuts and seeds. He was a wonderful example, along with his wife, of living life gratefully, fully, and happily.
Alastair will be lovingly remembered by his son Doug (Wendy) Fowler, and daughter Deb (Justin) Henry, three grandchildren: Lea Fowler, Rosalind (Aaron) Placke and Janine Henry, and four great grandchildren: Briley, Jett, Asher and Monroe Placke. Alastair is survived by his sister Margaret (Milton) Richman and his brother John (Elma) Fowler and numerous nieces and nephews.
