Olga Dion Obituary

Olga Marie Dion passed away peacefully on September 1, 2021 at the age of 96 years. Olga will be remembered and lovingly missed by her brother Pierre Dion, sister Camille Bourke, and extended family of nieces and nephews. She was sadly predeceased by her son Donald and siblings Paula, Jean, Agathe, Lawrence, Roma, Claude, and Ruth.

Our much-loved Olga Dion was a fearless spitfire who knew that nothing was impossible and everything could be made into a humorous event.
Olga was born in Caplan Quebec in 1924, and at the tender age of 16, Olga moved up north to Fort Resolute to work at her fathers work camp as a cook. From there she moved to Montreal and then to New York City, working at the Empire State Building where she held the title of “Miss Empire State” in 1949. She later adventured further, moving to Los Angeles for a time and then once again switched gears and moved to her ranch in Washington state with Jim, where her love of animals grew even further as she raised a baby skunk and horses.
Olga returned to Canada in the late 70’s to care for her mom. At age 70 Olga decided to build her own home on a plot of land in West Kelowna and she turned her yard of clay into a luscious orchard. Once settled in her new home she dove into becoming computer savvy and embraced her new hobby of digital photography for over 20 years.
Olga’s nieces and nephews recall how special she made each of us feel and we all were so proud to have such a cool aunt! She seemed to always be there for each of us at the right time and place, ready to listen, support and laugh with us. Olga, we will miss your constant wonder and “Joie de Vivre” that carried you and us through the many ups and downs of life. We carry that legacy forever!
