Al was a long-time resident of Saskatoon, SK, before moving to Kelowna, BC to enjoy his golden years. Al was born in Whitewood, SK to Clara and John Thurstan. Al passed away peacefully with family by his bedside on January 20, 2021 at Kelowna General Hospital.
Al is survived by his wife Anne, three children, Deb, Bob (Lois), Michael (Shannon). Al had seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
Al was predeceased by his siblings, Violet, Charlie, Herbert and Anne.
Al had a successful career in the Co-operative Retailing System for over 30 years, he then decided to retire and start his own small business.
Al was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years, he loved working with his hands whether woodworking or handyman jobs. He enjoyed many sports, hockey and baseball just to name a few. He will be remembered by many friends and family as quick witted with a great sense of humour.
The family would like to thank the great team of nurses and doctors at the Kelowna General Hospital ICU for their extreme kindness, love and support while attending to Al.
