Isabel Anne Kuzyk

We are sad to announce the passing of Isabel Anne Kuzyk nee Withler, on May 15, 2019 in West Kelowna, BC at the age of 94.

Isabel grew up in Boston Bar. She excelled in grade school, frequently being on the honor roll. She then attended Normal School in Kamloops to become a teacher. She taught in small one room primary and elementary schools in Alert Bay, Deroche, Port Coquitlam and North Vancouver. She then taught High School English for a short period in Nanaimo before moving to Summerland where she taught English at Summerland Secondary for over 30 years. She married and had two children and later separated, becoming a single Mother.

Isabel was loved by many for her kindness, compassion towards others, her strength and determination, her wisdom and witty humor. Many of her former students still remember her as their “favorite teacher” as they loved to hear her read to them. To her children, she was an amazing Mother, a hero and a best friend.

She was predeceased by her parents; Ora and Freddy Withler, Brother; Fred Withler, Sister; Bernice Wingrove, as well as Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Isabel will be missed by her Daughter; Jennifer Kuzyk, Son; Peter Kuzyk, Brother; Ira Withler, Nephews; Carl Withler, Dean Withler and Peter Withler, Nieces; Megan Withler, Ruth Withler and Gillian Grudeski.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 3:00pm May 22, 2019 at Hansons Westwood Funeral Chapel – 2541 Churchill Road, West Kelowna, BC.
