Evelyn Green Obituary

Evelyn Noreen (Harvey) Green, 87, passed away peacefully in the early hours of February 16, 2019 at “Village at Smith Creek” Care Home, West Kelowna, B.C.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Bob, her four children and their spouses Mary-lee, Harvey & Leah, Brad & Beth and Garth & Toni, 6 grand children, Jonathan & Katie, Alex, Jessie & Emily, Brianna & Aaron, Conner and Christopher as well as 6 great grand children.

Evelyn was the last surviving member of 12 siblings of the Harvey family. Her siblings were spread across Canada and Arizona but they always kept in touch.

Evelyn married Bob Green in 1952 and they began their lives together in their first home on 23rd avenue in Vancouver.  They built their second home in Tsawwassen, which they moved into in 1963 before moving to Stratford Ontario where they remained until their retirement in1986. They returned to White Rock in 1986 and then moved to the Okanagan in 1995.

Evelyn loved traveling with Bob in their motorhome visiting family and friends across both Canada and the United States.  Evelyn loved life and had a fantastic sense of humour.  When visitors came she would often bring out her folder of jokes sharing her latest find, laughing so hard she could barely get to the punch line.  She was a fierce competitor and enjoyed golfing, curling and playing cards as well as cooking and socializing with her many life long friends. Evelyn won many bonspiels with a variety of teams over 20 years. She started playing golf in 1974 and loved the game. She played 3 times a week and had her share of golf prizes as well. The Harvey family had many CPGA & PGA pro’s, this is where her competitive spirit came from. She was the centerpiece of our family. She will live on in our thoughts as well as our lives as we continue to remember the love and council she has given.  We will miss her dearly.

Evelyn battled with Alzheimer's for approximately 3 years before it took her life. The staff at the “Village at Smith Creek” treated her with amazing care and attention making her last few years better - THANK YOU!
